With the decision of the Provincial Chapter 2014 and the consent of the Provincial Council, a plot of land measuring 6.5 acres was purchased and registered on 10 June 2015. The then Provincial Minister, Br. Remish Ekka, OFM Cap, in consultation with the councilors, authorized the then Provincial Secretary, Br. Suresh Majhi, OFM Cap. (Surendra Kisan), to complete the legal procedures and sign the documents at the time of registration.​

         The primary purpose of this foundation was to open an English Medium School so as to provide quality education in the industrial area of Jharsuguda and to support the other Capuchin fraternities in Odisha. In the course of time, all the legal work related to the land (registration, mutation, conversion) was completed, and the original documents were handed over to the society office in Lucknow. The purchased property is situated 6.6 km from Jharsuguda Railway Station and 15 km from Jharsuguda Airport. At the time of purchase, the land contained a few mango trees and an old dilapidated house.​

      On 7 April 2016, the then Provincial Secretary, Br. Suresh Majhi, came to Jharsuguda, stayed at Sambalpur Social Service Society, Jharsuguda, and undertook the renovation of the existing house in view of establishing a new fraternity. Br. Amrit Minj, OFM Cap, was appointed in charge of the new community, and Br. Kishor Tigga, OFM Cap, was designated as a member. Br. Amrit arrived on 27 April 2016, took charge on 1 May 2016, and completed the renovation work; later, Br. Kishor Tigga joined the community on 10 May 2016, thereby formally establishing a new fraternity. This fraternity was named “Assisi House.”​

         With the guidance of Br. Suresh Majhi and under the supervision of Br. Amrit and Br. Kishor, the boundary wall around the entire property was constructed. In the same year, the necessary NOC for the construction of the school and residence was obtained, and the building work was initiated. The school is named St. Francis Academy. The friars residing in Assisi House are engaged in the educational apostolate, dedicating themselves wholeheartedly to building up the school by imparting quality education to children. They also make themselves available for spiritual assistance to the neighbouring religious communities and to the local Catholic faithful.​
