Holy Family Friary of St. Fidelis Province, North India, is situated in the south‑western part of Bihar, in the Diocese of Buxar, and in civil terms falls under the Rohtas district. This mission, located at Chenari, was originally established in 1968 by the Jesuits, with Rev. Fr. Joseph Knecht S.J. serving as the first priest‑in‑charge of the mission. In March 2023, the Diocese invited the Capuchins of St. Fidelis Province to take up and continue the mission work, thereby entrusting this field once again to a religious missionary congregation.​

At present, the Chenari parish, dedicated to St. Mother Teresa, consists of 10 villages situated along the border of Rohtas and Kaimur districts. The parish has about 350 Catholics belonging to 65 families, with the villages spread over a radius of approximately 1 km to 25 km from the mission centre. The entire Christian community here comes from Dalit (Scheduled Caste) backgrounds, and the mission seeks in a particular way to accompany, uplift, and empower these marginalized faithful.​

The Chenari mission also includes a Hindi‑medium school, established in 1972 by the Catholic Archdiocese of Patna (now under the Diocese of Buxar) to provide education for the marginalized sections of Chenari in Rohtas district. The school was initially administered by Sasaram Parish Society, a charitable society of the Catholic Diocese of Patna, registered under the Societies’ Registration Act XXI of 1860 with registration number 12 of 1964–1965. Today, Holy Family School is administered by the Capuchins in collaboration with the Sisters of Notre Dame and is recognized by the Bihar Education Board.​

There are about 375 children studying in the school with the support of 16 dedicated teaching staff. The friars residing in Holy Family Friary are actively involved in teaching as part of their educational ministry, while also attending to the spiritual needs of the parish faithful and the nearby religious communities. Through their presence, pastoral service, and simple fraternal lifestyle, the friars strive to offer an authentic Capuchin witness in this mission area.​
